Congratulations to the Prom Advice Scholarship Contest Winners!

In our first-ever Prom Scholarship Contest, we asked entrants to choose from one of two categories: Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising. Fashion Design contestants were asked to design Prom gowns inspired by the celebrity of their choice, while Fashion Merchandising contestants were challenged with creating their very own imaginary Prom boutique! FIDM awarded two one-year full scholarships.

Fashion Design Winner: Haley
Our Fashion Design Scholarship winner Haley from San Luis Obispo, California, chose to sketch designs for Sofia Coppola's ultra-stylish muse, actress Kirsten Dunst. Haley blew us away with her creativity and presentation. She chose a starry nightlife setting and integrated it with looks that meshed perfectly with Kirsten Dunst's unique style. Notice how Haley incorporated her star motif when presenting her material swatches. Now that's attention to detail! Thanks to Haley, we've certainly got stars in our eyes.

Fashion Merchandising Winner: Ailish
Fashion Merchandising Scholarship winner Ailish from San Jose, California created a super-cute imaginary Prom boutique called Tiaras & Tails. Ailish went above and beyond all the other entries by creating a great name and logo, a brochure that included a detailed store plan with the store's Prom season schedule, and a branded bag with business cards. The crowning glory (pun intended) was her layout boards which showed the store plan, lighting, and a backdrop of the store wall with a vintage Prom photo mural (see top image), carpet samples, and other materials for the store. She also found great samples of shoes, accessories, dresses, and guy's attire. We'd for sure shop for our Prom looks at Tiaras & Tails.
