Designers Go Vintage For Charity

Vintage L.A. - Fashions for the Future
On April 27, 2002 top designers united for "Vintage L.A. - Fashions For the Future."
Produced
in association with the Coalition of Los Angeles Designers, the California
Fashion Association and FIDM, designers (including FIDM alums Estevan
Ramos and Monique Lhuillier)
added their flair to vintage clothing selected from Salvation Army thrift
stores.
NYPD Blue actress Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon hosted the benefit. "I hope they picked me because I have a sense of style," noted the actress, who was decked out in a green lace dress by Monique Lhuillier. "But more importantly, I want people to open their wallets today."
The afternoon started with a private reception and viewing at the Museum of Neon Art, located just across the park from FIDM in Los Angeles. Then, patrons and designers had afternoon tea in the Park, which was followed by the exciting fashion show. Vintage L.A. benefits Alegria, a $9 million dollar village-style community in the Silver Lake District of Los Angeles. Alegria provides care for homeless and low-income families living with AIDS.
