Evening Instructor - Professor Moira Doyle; Teacher Par Excellence

 Professor Doyle started teaching at FIDM in 1983. She has been in the Los Angeles Fashion Industry Profession for 24 years. Her experience in the fashion industry includes designing and production pattern making. She is currently teaching pattern drafting, draping, grading, and computer pattern making/grading on the Gerber system. She is considered to be FIDM's expert in computer technology for apparel production. Professor Doyle is also the Department Advisor for the Fashion Design Department.

Professor Doyle received a Degree in Fashion Design from Los Angeles Trade Tech College, She is also a certified makeup artist from The Marvin Westmore Academy and has been featured in various publications and television shows. Ms Doyle was featured on both national and local programs, including Eye on LA, Channel 2 News, and Taking Advantage. She was also featured in the LA Weekly as "Best Image Consultant". She has been a Fashion Consultant for Special Events at the May Company, the Bonaventure Hotel and Fox Hills Mall. Her clientele includes executives, professionals and entertainers. Moira has also given seminars at the Niigata Institute of Total Fashion (NITF), in Niigoto, Japan, teaching draping and pattern making to the students, faculty and industry professionals.

When asked why she likes teaching at FIDM, Ms Doyle's response was: "I love teaching at FIDM, it's a privilege to have a career I love. Teaching takes a lot of energy and focus, but it's really very fun and rewarding. It's challenging and constantly changing. There's always something new to learn and pass on to my students. I especially admire the students in the evening program. Their dedication and determination to follow their dreams is inspiring."

Professor Doyle has a very professional and refined demeanor yet is very personable and sincere. Moira cares a great deal about her students as is evidenced in her style of teaching. She is understanding but stresses the need for competence in her students. On a personal level, Moira writes children's stories, enjoys Yoga and astronomical observation. Her latest literary accomplishment involves being the last author of "Brown Dwarfs and Extra Solar Planets" which is featured in the May 10th, 2000 issue of the Astro Physical Journal. It covers the detection of Jovian Mass planets by eclipsing binary minema timing. Ms. Doyle is a credit to FIDM, as well as the industry she represents.
