A display of 10 original chairs designed by FIDM's graduating Interior Design students, and 10 coordinating gowns designed by FIDM's graduating Fashion Design students, marks the sixth year of Chairing Styles. While the pairs of students are from different disciplines, this unique experience allows the designers to work from the same concept and fabric to create a collaborative final product for exhibition. For the 2005-06 Chairing Styles, the students used coordinating denim fabric from the FIDM Scholarship Store. The interdisciplinary partnership is produced with West Hollywood's Avenues of Art & Design and local chair manufacturers. The diverse group of chairs and garments has individual names and themes that highlight the talents of these Interior Design and Fashion Design students. |
