Ask Fashion Girl
Dear Fashion Girl,
Dear Fashion Girl,
I love open-toed shoe styles, but hate my toes! How can I make my toes look better to wear these cute shoes?
Sincerely, Kayla
Dear Kayla,
You won't hate your toes once they've been made beautiful! My advice is to start spending some quality time spoiling your toes! Pedicures aren't just for the wealthy, they're reasonably priced and well worth the time. Ask your favorite salon if they offer pedicures or locate a nail salon in your area. Pedicures can range in price from $10 to $50 and up. Your best bet is to get recommendations from friends and compare prices. A once-a-month pedicure indulgence will keep your toes in tip-top shape throughout the year.
If you're not too keen on the salon thing, do it yourself! Personalize your pedicure with your favorite botanical oils and products. Check out this site for step-by-step instructions on the perfect at-home pedicure: http://marieclaire.com/mc/articles/80pedi11.htm.
Though you can't change the shape of your toes, you can certainly improve their overall appearance with regular pampering. If you have hairy toes (don't fret, it's very common!) then shave carefully with a razor whenever you shave your legs or use a waxing kit for longer-lasting results. Don't neglect your feet when moisturizing. Take a few moments to massage scented lotion into your ankles, heels, and especially your toes. Remember that it takes diligent maintenance to keep any part of your body looking great!
Recently a tidal wave of cool stuff for the beautification of toe- and fingernails has hit stores. Take a trip to your local drugstore and be amazed! Check out Urban Decay nail enamel and get addicted to painting your toes in hot colors like Gum, Bruise, Frostbite, Maiden, Kiss, Pigeon, and Radium! Beautify your toes with nail art in stencils or stick-ons. Shop for toe rings that will make your lower digits dazzle!
If all else fails and you're still wary about revealing your toes, look for shoes with very small openings over the toes or straps that cleverly cover parts of toes.
Sincerely,
