Dear Fashion Girl,
Dear Fashion Girl,
I have a big bust and no hips/curves! What should I wear?
Betsy
Dear Betsy:
You've got a problem that most of us face: too much of one thing and not enough of another! Solving it is a matter of directing the eye. You want to create balance in your figure by directing attention away from your breasts and towards your slim hips, great legs, and face. Jeans and pants that have a lot of detailing at hip level are good for you, such as fancy side or back pockets, or embroidery. Combat skirts and pants work for you because they have lots of extra pockets and detailing around the hips. But be careful with the hipline bulk -- adding dimension on the bottom can end up making you look big all over.
To minimize your bust, wear tops that create a vertical line down your front, such as button-up blouses, V-neck sweaters over tees, and Levi's-style jackets. A good bra is essential, and they make ones that not only support but minimize. Avoid really tight tops and tees, and choose clothes that skim your body instead. Fitted jackets will give you both a vertical line down the front and the illusion of curves.
Thanks for writing, and have a fashionable day!
Sincerely, Fashion Girl
