About the Exhibit
I
don't think there's anything that communicates better than art. It's quicker
than language and clearer than philosophy." - Frederick R. Weisman
Now showing in the FIDM gallery is the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation painting and sculpture exhibit. Representing over 40 years of collecting Modern and Contemporary Art, the Weisman collection exhibition at FIDM includes over 80 works of the greatest names in 20th century painting and sculpture. Highlights of some of the artists work in all three museum galleries at the college are: Andy Warhol, George Segal, Joseph Cornell, Roy Lichtenstein, Edward Ruscha, Frank Stella, Ellsworth Kelly, Tony Berlant, Christo, Donald Judd, Ed Moses, Alex Katz, Jose Luis Quinones, Nan June Paik, and many more.
The
exhibition opened with a gala event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the
Venice Family Clinic, which provides comprehensive primary health care that
is affordable, accessible and compassionate for people with no other access
to such care. The sit-down dinner affair was held in the beautifully landscaped
Grand-Hope Park adjacent to the Museum Gallery entrance. Proceeds from the
dinner went to the Venice Family Clinic Chronic Care Program.
The exhibition is free to the public and runs from Monday, October 9th, 2000 to Thursday, December 14th. Gallery Hours are Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or by special appointment.
