Grad and Venture Capitalist Akshata Murty Married To UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak

Akshata Murty, a 2013 FIDM graduate and London-based businesswoman, is married to Rishi Sunak, who was recently appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Born and raised in India, Akshata traveled to California to pursue higher education. She first completed a B.A. at Claremont McKenna College, followed by an A.A. in Apparel Industry Management at FIDM before pursuing her M.B.A. at Stanford, where she met her future husband.

The couple married in 2009 in India and eventually settled in England, where Rishi is from. Akshata ran her own fashion label, Akshata Designs, from 2009 to 2012 and now works primarily as a venture capitalist.
